2016 ANZAC Day...



The Kiwi community recently gathered for two different events to commemorate ANZAC Day...

The first event was held at Christchurch Cathedral for the annual commemoration of ANZAC day on Sunday 24 April.

 

Speakers included Alan McCarthy, New Zealand Consul-General, Ken Ryan of the New Zealand Embassy in London, Mrs Isil Gurler Ileri, Deputy Head of Mission at the Turkish Embassy and Ruth Adler, Australian Ambassador to Ireland.

 

Wreaths were laid from the NZIA.

 

Following the service light refreshments were served and after many moved to the nearby Beer Market afterwards.

 

The following day, Monday 25 April (ANZAC Day) saw the Australian Embassy host its annual dawn service, the NZIA was represented by NZIA President Eldon Moors and committee member Karen Dwyer who lay a wreath on behalf of the association. 

 

President Michael D Higgins and his wife were also in attendance.
